St. Barnabas is committed to answering God’s call to discipleship with hearts to love, hands to serve and minds to grow. We invite you to join us for worship at our 10 a.m. service on Sunday and to participate in our parish activities. Not only do we worship together, but we also enjoy serving the community around our church and take every opportunity to celebrate our common life together. We believe that joy is the authentic expression of a faith-filled life!
St. Barnabas is a part of the Episcopal Church, USA, which is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. We are proud of the heritage and tradition of our Church, which is reflected in our historic stone sanctuary and our worship services based on the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.
St. Barnabas was built as a chapel of ease under the aegis of Holy Trinity parish, which was built in Eldersburg in 1771 and was demolished in the 1940s. St. Barnabas was built in 1850 and consecrated in 1851. Our long history has deep roots in the Sykesville and Eldersburg communities.
Whether you and your family are new to the area or have lived here for a long time, we invite you to come and worship with us and join us at any of our events. We look forward to meeting you!
