Advent Reflections
Diocesan intern Susan Mitchell will lead a program of Advent reflections via Zoom on Thursday, December 5, 12, and 19, at 7:00 p.m. These reflections are based on the book, Mary, favored by God, by Catherine Upchurch. (No need to purchase the book, but it is available on Amazon should you wish.) Each night, Susan will make a brief presentation, and then we will discuss the readings and our own faith journeys, ending our time together by praying Compline. The schedule is as follows: December 5: Luke 1: 26-38, The Annunciation; December 12: Luke 1: 39-45, The Visitation; and December 19: Luke 1: 46-55 The Magnificat—Canticle of Mary. All are welcome, and please email Fr. Tim if you plan to attend (priest@stbarnabassykesville.org). You don’t need to sign up for all three nights. Whatever works for you works for us!

Christmas Altar Flowers
Christmas is almost here, and what better time to remember loved ones than to donate money for altar flowers in their name as a loving tribute. Please sign up by emailing Susie in the church office (parish@stbarnabassykesville.org) or by leaving a message at (410) 489-2800. Be sure to let us know whether your donation is in memory of or in honor of your loved ones and include their name(s). Your $40 checks should be made payable to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, with the words “Altar Guild Flowers – Christmas” in the memo line. Checks may be placed in the offering plate or mailed to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1426, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
Thanksgiving Pantry Project Gratitude
Wow, St. Barnabas; you are so generous with your love! For the Thanksgiving Pantry Project, we were able to give our three families store gift cards for $500 each, enough for a hearty Thanksgiving meal, groceries, and help with buying Christmas presents. One of the families texted, “I am grateful for all the help; things have been really rough the past couple of months. Thank you guys so much for keeping an eye on us. God bless you all.” If you would like to continue the blessings for these families for Christmas and into the New Year, please support our Christmas Pantry Project. Checks should include “Pantry Project” on the memo line and be put in the offering plate, while cash donations can be given directly to Jill Singleton or Wayne Pugh. We will be collecting money through December 15. Thank you!
Feedmore Van – 1st Wednesday of the Month
Join Wayne Pugh on Wednesday, December 4, as St. Barnabas supports the Feedmore program of the Salvation Army. Feedmore serves the homeless population in Baltimore by providing hot and cold meals, clothing, blankets, and toiletries to adults and children. We meet at the Salvation Army depot in Baltimore at 4:30 p.m. and return to the depot at 6:10 p.m. To assist with this important mission, please see Wayne after church or call him at (410) 707-4604.
Updates to Directory and Prayer List
Has any of your contact information changed? Need to update your picture or add one? Can anyone on the Prayer List be removed? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please contact Susie in the church office at parish@stbarnabassykesville.org to update your listing.
Church Life in Pictures
Did you know that the large cork board at the top of the stairs in the parish hall displays St. Barnabas’ congregational life in pictures? Feel free to add your own St. Barnabas pictures. And check it out – you will probably see pictures of yourself along with your church family. What a great celebration of our church family!
Blue Christmas Retreat
For those experiencing grief or loss around the holiday season, you are invited for a time of respite, support, and comfort in the winter months. The Claggett Center (Adamstown, MD) is hosting a Blue Christmas Retreat on December 20-22, 2024. For more information and to register, visit https://claggettcenter.org/adult-programs.
