The Mission of St. Barnabas’ Hospitality Commission is to enhance fellowship opportunities by planning and hosting social events for the parish community.

A coffee hour is scheduled in the Parish Hall after the 10 a.m. service on the first and third Sundays of the month. During the summer months (June to September), we enjoy “Lemonade Sundays.” This is a gathering each Sunday immediately outside the church to chat, have a little something to munch on, and a cool beverage to drink. The beverages and munchies are supplied by a rotating list of volunteers. Cups, napkins, table, trash bags are all supplied by the church and are kept inside the front door of the sanctuary.

A parish picnic is held in June to commemorate St. Barnabas’ Feast Day. Another picnic is held in September to welcome back everyone from their vacations and celebrate the beginning of a new church year. We also provide hospitality on special occasions, such as an official visit by the Bishop.

Receptions following funerals and memorial services are traditionally organized by the families involved, but Hospitality members can be on hand to assist with the setup, arrival of the caterers, serving, and generally helping where needed.

The Hospitality Commission is supported by the generosity of many parish members who bake, serve, set-up and clean-up to ensure the success of each event.
